  • Greetings!

Just say the word February and one envisions red hearts, golf (the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament to be specific), ground hogs and chocolate. In fact it's a month full of heart as we share time with those we love, and remind ourselves of how important it is to take care of our heart. February may be the shortest month of the year, but it is certainly not shy of activity. This year Valentines Day falls on a Saturday, which allows a full weekend to enjoy all that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer. Surprise the one you love with a reservation at any one of the lovely resorts, bed and breakfast or motels. There are countless places one can indulge and satisfy the appetite with culinary delights, and for those who enjoy the opportunity to tour wineries and listen to jazz all that and more is available. It is a month that won't disappoint. Enjoy!

2008 is a landmark year for Joan Baez, marking 50 years since she began her legendary residency at Boston's famed Club 47. She remains a musical force of nature whose influence is incalculable - marching on the front line of the civil rights movement with Martin Luther King Jr., singing on the first Amnesty International tour and just this year, standing alongside Nelson Mandela when the world celebrated his 90th birthday in London's Hyde Park. A stunning soprano, Joan's natural vibrato lends a taut, nervous tension to everything she sings. Her repertoire reflects a different sensibility from her peers. Although the songs may be traditional, there is an acknowledgment of the human condition.
