Two Freshwater Otter Pups Born Behind the Scenes
The Monterey Bay Aquarium exclaimes We’re thrilled to announce the birth of our first mammals. On November 3, two curious and energetic African spotted-necked otter pups were born behind the scenes. Both female pups are in good health, have big appetites and are keeping their mom busy.
The two pups—plus four other African spotted-necked otters and four Asian small-clawed otters—are living behind the scenes now, but visitors can see them all when Wild About Otters opens on March 31. The special exhibition marks the first time we'll exhibit freshwater mammals and other freshwater animals—nearly 35 species of African and Asian reptiles, fishes and plants.
You can shop till you drop at the hundreds of boutiques and specialty shops in the region. The towns of Carmel-By-The-Sea and Pacific Grove offer upscale stores perfect for browsing. And the famous Fisherman’s Wharf offers souvenirs and local wares only a short distance away.
